Unlimited Potential

Writer's picture: Michelle L. SmithMichelle L. Smith

In the past few weeks, I've stepped pretty far out of my comfort zone.

Challenged myself to do things I've never done before.

Things that made me nervous and scared.

But each time, when I finished them, I realized there was actually very little to be nervous or scared about.

It made me think about the 16, 966 days I've existed on this earth.

Have I been living them to their fullest? Challenging myself to be better every day?

If I'm honest with myself, my answer to that is - "I'm trying."

This can be incredibly hard when life is tough. The stress and fear and frustration can overwhelm us.

But what we need to realize is that living life to our fullest doesn't have to always mean the big things like climbing mountains, running marathons, having a million followers, or being famous.

Sometimes living life to your fullest means prioritizing taking care of the people who need you.

Sometimes living life to your fullest means finding a new job that fulfills you.

Sometimes living life to your fullest means simply waking up every day with gratitude in your heart and appreciation for what you have.

And always it means being your best, kindest version of you.

We underestimate the potential we have as human beings.

The power of our mindset and thoughts and attitude to change the course of our lives is truly amazing.

Starting every day with a positive thought can literally rewire our brains to make us happier people.

Challenging ourselves to step out of our comfort zones and do those things that scare us builds the confidence we need to keep doing them.

The stone in the picture above was one I picked at random on our women's retreat to Zion National Park.

We were asked to speak to how the saying on our stone resonated with us.

"You have unlimited potential."

I paused a moment to reflect.

And then I thought, "Yes! Yes I do."

And so do all of you. No matter how you choose to use it.
