Try Something New

Writer's picture: Michelle L. SmithMichelle L. Smith

I've recently developed a love of craft beer.

The dark ones.

Especially the ones that taste like chocolate or vanilla.

Or peanut butter...or birthday cake!

Who knew that beer could taste like dessert?

It's been a lot of fun trying to find the best sweet, dark beers to sip when I'm out with friends.

This one in the picture tasted like chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. An amazing combination for a gorgeous summer evening on the outdoor patio at an awesome local restaurant.

I also learned that I like feta cheese. On a salad with walnuts, chicken, and a great raspberry vinaigrette dressing.

I used to think dark beer was too bitter. That feta cheese tasted like old socks.

Until I tried them.

Silly me!

Sometimes it can be hard for us to try new things.

It's easier to stay in our comfort zone. Order what we know we will like.

Not step out and put ourselves in a place where we could be disappointed.

But how else do we learn and grow?

How else will we find out what we love and what makes us our happiest selves?

I challenge you today, friends.

Get out there and try something new.

A new food.

A new beer.

A new friend.

A new outfit.

A new destination.

A new career.

A new outlook on life.

You've got nothing to lose.

And a whole new perspective on life to gain.
