I like my coffee sweet.
Three tablespoons of creamer sweet, to be exact.
That first cup of hot, delicious, creamy coffee is the perfect start to my day.
I sometimes go to bed looking forward to having coffee in the morning.
I'm sure I've written about that in a blog post or two already.
It's not actually about the coffee though.
It's about the comfort it brings. And the way it makes me smile.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately.
The ordinary, simple things in life that bring me joy.
Creamer in my coffee
A new set of pots and pans that match (finally!)
My favorite blanket
A good book to read
Music that makes me want to dance
Cards and pie on Tuesday nights
A great meal at a new restaurant
The clouds in the sky on my walks around the neighborhood
Spending time with the people I love
Life doesn't have to be complicated.
Well, not all of it anyway.
We are creatures of habit, seeking comfort and consistency in a chaotic world.
We build our lives out of ordinary moments, and fill our homes and our hearts with simple things that we love.
The collection of all of those moments is what makes life extraordinary.
That's why I write this blog.
To remind you (and me!) that life isn't about what you achieve, how much money you have, or whether you change the world.
It's about how kind you are, how you bring joy to those around you, and how many smiles you smile before you go to bed at night.
It's about finding the positive in every single day, and being grateful for where you are at this exact moment in time.
And sometimes...
It's about how many tablespoons of creamer you put in your coffee.
I'll take three, please.
