We are exploring Door County this weekend.
At one of the boutiques in Fish Creek, there was a little room upstairs with a royal chair and tiaras you could try on and take pictures.
I put one on. Just for fun.
Surprisingly, they hurt to wear.
I don't think I'm cut out to be a princess.
I sat down in the chair.
Crossed my legs and put my hands in my lap like a proper lady.
Brian snapped the picture.
When I looked at it, I had to laugh.
At me, in that tiara. Wearing the Banjo cat t-shirt from the brewery down the road that I had just bought.
The weather was much warmer than I expected; it had gotten to be nearly 70 degrees and sunny.
My weather app had told me it would be 60, cloudy, and likely rainy so I had dressed for that.
The sweater I picked out for the day was heavy, and by the time we walked to our fourth stop in the sunshine, I was working up a sweat.
I had no choice but to shop for something cooler to wear. Thus, the banjo cat t-shirt.
As I looked at the photo, of the girl in the tiara in that fancy chair, I couldn't help but think about how accurate it actually was.
This is me.
Sometimes proper and appropriate, sitting up straight, wearing my figurative tiara.
And other times, wearing a funny t-shirt and getting a little wild and crazy.
Life is best experienced from multiple angles.
We need to show the world our many sides.
To allow ourselves to let loose and have fun.
To buy the silly t-shirts and wear them proudly.
And to be courageously authentic in everything we do.
This is me.
And I'm proud of her.
Are you proud of you?
