The water was calm.
The beach practically empty.
The sky filled with clouds.
The sun was trying hard to break through.
Slivers of light burst through the cracks, painting the sky with orange and yellow highlights.
The beauty of it struck me.
It reminded me that every single morning, no matter how many clouds are in the sky, the sun is always there.
Even on the days when we can't see it.
The thing that blows my mind a bit if I take the time to sit and think about it is this:
We could step outside and look at the sunrise every single morning and never see the same one twice.
Some days there are a lot of clouds to push through and we only see slivers of light.
And some days the sky is clear and the sun can shine bold, bright and warm against our skin.
Every day is unique.
The formation of the clouds is different, the location of the sun in the sky is shifting ever so slightly.
Even our perspective as we watch the sunrise is different on any given morning.
It's so easy to wake up and go about our business and not think about things like that.
To take for granted the sun in the sky, the air that we breathe, and the breathtaking beauty of the world around us.
That morning on the beach, as I watched the sun struggling to push through the clouds, I was grateful that I had taken the time to pause and take it all in.
I talk a lot in this blog about taking time to reflect, and always finding the good in every situation.
That's not always easy. I know that. I struggle to do it many days too.
I'd say my track record is probably 80/20, which I'm pretty happy with overall, knowing the stuff life has thrown at me.
But the thing is friends...
If you come into every situation expecting to find something good, it's a lot easier to keep things in perspective.
It's a mindset shift.
A powerful way to help you push through the clouds when it's hard to find the breaks in them.
The sun is always there.
Trust me.
