I've always considered the number three to be lucky.
It's my birth date after all.
In numerology, being born on the 3rd day of the month signifies that the events and circumstances of a person's life are likely to inspire creativity or require creative solutions.
I would say that's pretty fitting for my life. And descriptive of the path that I'm on, finding ways to inspire others with my story.
Numerology also says that people born on the 3rd day of the month display these types of character traits:
Creative self-expression
Social interaction
Optimism
Tolerance
Inspiration
Also describes me pretty well. Although tolerance has been a tough one this year!
Now I'm not saying that all of this theory is scientific or anything, just that it's interesting.
On the flip side of this positive stuff about the number 3, there's also the theory that bad things come in threes.
While that may be true sometimes, it's also true that after the third bad thing, bad things don't just magically stop happening.
We just start the count over.
I think ultimately, it comes down to choices. Again.
I'll never stop bringing that up, because it's so important for us to continue to realize, in every situation.
We can choose to see the rows of good things in threes that are all around us, or we can choose to count the bad ones until we get to three. And then start all over again.
Which one sounds like the healthier, happier choice?
I choose to focus on the good things that come in threes around me.
I see them more and more these days.
The row of three trees whose leaves are turning a brilliant red
The row of three sunflowers, as yellow as the sun
The row of three street signs that mark the bend in the road on my daily walk
The row of three plates that I set out when I make dinner for me and my boys
The row of three pairs of shoes by the entryway, signifying that we are home safe
Good things are everywhere, you just have to choose to see them.
Here's a challenge for you.
The next time you are on your count of the bad things that happen in threes in your life, pause for just a minute.
Look around you. Find three good things.
And flip that perspective.
Train your brain like you train your body, with intention and focus.
You only have one life. Make it a happy one!
