Blankets of white.
As far as we can see.
No idea what's underneath our feet. Or if there are obstacles in our path that might cause us to stumble and fall.
But we keep walking. Every once in awhile sinking into snow that's higher than our knees.
Feeling the cold and wet when the snowflakes melt inside our pant legs.
At the same time though, enjoying the beauty and the sunshine along the way.
I think that's how life can be sometimes.
We keep moving forward, trudging through the snow, dealing with all of the stuff that gets thrown at us.
Pushing past the obstacles, and pausing every once in awhile to admire the view ahead.
But how often do we stop and look back at how far we've come?
How often do we consider the example we've set, or the ways we've touched other people's lives on our journey?
Those footprints we've left in the snow are helping others find their way too.
Maybe someone we don't even know, or have no idea that we've impacted.
Every step we've taken, every decision we've made, has left a trail behind us.
I think we should take more time to appreciate that.
To pause and breathe and allow ourselves to be grateful for how far we've come.
To feel good about the path we've forged in life.
And to know that somewhere along the way, we've made a difference.
