Smudgy fingerprints.
All over the front of my stainless steel fridge.
No matter how many times I wipe them away.
They just keep coming back.
Marks left behind from all of the times we've opened it, looking for food or drink.
I put my heart-shaped magnet from San Juan Island next to them today.
Didn't even bother to wipe them away this time.
I figure I'll leave them there for awhile as a reminder of all of the things in life that we touch.
I'm in awe sometimes when I think about that.
How every touch, every word, every interaction we have leaves an impression on the world around us.
We don't even realize it most of the time. We just go about our day, being who we are.
Unknowingly affecting lives and changing the future.
That text to a friend who was having a bad day made her feel just a little bit better. She didn't cancel her evening plans after all and had a much-needed night out.
The smile we shared with the checkout girl at the gas station made her smile too. She carried that smile home with her and it spread to her family.
That project we completed at work that made life easier for an entire team of people? It helped them feel supported and lowered their stress level so much that it made their personal lives happier.
Even just the way we live our lives has an impact.
We strive to be our best selves, to enjoy life to the fullest, and others around us are inspired to do the same.
Like fingerprints on a refrigerator door.
Evidence of the affect a simple touch can have.
The world is a better place with smudgy fingerprints on it.
Keep leaving them!
