I have about a dozen pairs.
Of cheap sunglasses.
I pick them up at thrift stores, garage sales, the clearance section at random stores when I'm shopping...
Why do I have this impulse to buy them, you ask?
Well, I have a bad habit of leaving my sunglasses behind when I go places.
So it would cost me way too much money if they were expensive ones.
This particular pair is super fun.
I found them a couple weeks ago at one of my favorite thrift stores in town.
I don't own any blue or leopard print ones so it was a nice add to my collection.
I threw them in the car so they were available when I needed them.
It was pretty cloudy for a week after that, so it was awhile before I picked them up again.
But the first sunny day, I hopped in the car and put them on, super excited for my new look.
I went to about four different places that day as I ran my errands.
Sporting my new sunglasses and a smile.
When I pulled into my garage and took them off, I realized something.
I had forgotten to take the price sticker off of them!
So that whole day, I was going around advertising that these sunglasses had been purchased for $1.50.
I had to laugh.
And wonder how many people had noticed.
I hope it brought some joy to their day - or made them think about the time they did something silly and didn't realize it.
In my younger days, I would have been mortified by something like this.
But not anymore.
In fact, when these things happen to me now, I smile and think - there's a blog post waiting to happen!
And a message to share with all of you.
I'm proud to buy and wear cheap sunglasses.
And to be confident enough in my own skin to take it in stride when my imperfect humanity shows itself to the world.
I hope you are too!
