Yesterday I was out in the sunshine and the heat at my son's baseball game. It was a beautiful day to be outside, but the sun beating down on me was brutal at times.
I felt a bead of sweat make its way down my forehead.
Slowly, as if in slow motion, it dripped off of my eyebrow and landed squarely in my eye.
Momentarily blinded by it, I blinked a few times to clear my vision.
And I thought about how life can be like that too.
We work up a figurative sweat as we fight off the constant flow of information and stressors that fill our days.
Sometimes it can feel pretty overwhelming.
It's also very easy to lose sight of what's really important when all of the little distractions are dripping right into our eyes.
I've learned through experience that the best way to keep your vision clear is to be really aware of how much time you are spending on things that don't matter.
Are you wiping away the drips before they have a chance to get past your eyebrows?
Or are you letting them fall and constantly having to blink to clear your vision?
Life is precious and we have a finite amount of moments to spend living it.
Try not to let those beads of sweat take away even one of them.
Enjoy your summer friends - spend it wiping away those beads of sweat and keeping your eyes on the important things in life!
