Choose Your Own Adventure

Remember those books where you choose from multiple options and depending on which choice you make, your story unfolds in different ways?

Life is pretty much exactly like that.

We live in a world where we make hundreds of choices every day.

Some are easy and insignificant and have very little affect on the course of our lives.

Like choosing to wear a blue shirt vs. a red shirt today.

Others are hard and significant and life-changing.

Like choosing to move to a new city/state, or start a job in a new industry.

I've often thought it would be helpful to have a book where I could read ahead and see what would happen if I made one choice vs. another.

Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to know the outcome so you could be sure to make the "right" choice?

But then again...

If we always knew what the consequences of our choices would be, would we ever make the hard ones?

If people could see what it really takes to make the hard choices to move their lives forward, I think a lot of them might choose not to make them. Even if it's something they really want and have dreamt of doing their entire lives.

It's human nature to choose comfort over struggle.

I believe that when confronted with two choices - one easy and one hard, it's almost always better to choose the hard one.

Yes, the hard choices can challenge us, make us cry, cause us pain, and take us completely out of our comfort zone.

But without that experience, we can't grow stronger, move our lives forward and ultimately, become the very best versions of ourselves.

Don't be afraid of those hard choices, or the unknown that comes with them. Embrace them and bravely take on the challenges they bring.

With each hard choice you make, you build strength and confidence.

And I think you'll find that the next hard choice isn't quite so scary. In fact, it might even be a little exciting. At least that's how it's been in my experience.

Then one day, you'll look at your life and reflect on all of the choices that sum it up. And you'll be proud of how far you've come and who you are.

It's up to you to choose your own adventure in the short amount of days that make up your imperfectly perfect life.

Choose wisely.
