Well, we did it!
I'm officially writing my first blog post from the new house.
I'm exhausted and my legs hurt from so many trips up and down the stairs. Muscles that I haven't used in quite awhile are yelling at me. My Fitbit worked overtime and clocked nearly 60,000 steps since Friday morning, which is usually what I get in an entire work week.
And I wasn't even the one doing most of the heavy lifting!
I'm so very grateful for my amazing family and friends who helped us move the past two days. Without them, this wouldn't even have been possible. There was no complaining, just digging in and moving stuff and getting sh*t done. And all it cost me was some pizza and snacks.
Sitting here this morning, with a hot cup of coffee, I can finally take a breath and look around me. I think about the life my boys and I will create here. The new memories we will make, the things I will need to learn to do as a homeowner, and the opportunities ahead of us.
And I can't help but wonder about the people that lived here before us. They weren't the first owners, but lived here for 17 years. I am sure they had their share of challenges, cried tears of both joy and pain, and made many of their own memories here.
The people that lived here before them did the same.
Do you ever wonder about all of the life being lived in parallel to yours?
Sometimes it blows my mind just a little bit when I think of the millions of people in this world who are living right next to us, across the street from us, down the road from us, even across the globe from us.
All of us going about our own separate lives, making tough decisions, navigating hardships, laughing, loving, living and dying.
And it makes me feel so very grateful to be just a tiny piece of this giant universe.
So, I'll take on this new adventure in honor of all of those who lived here before me.
And start making memories in this home that I can now call my own.
