Don't cry over spilled milk...
How many times in your life have you heard that saying?
Yesterday, when I was making breakfast, I dropped a half gallon of milk on the floor and the cap popped off of the container. Milk poured out of it, spreading across the linoleum and under my refrigerator.
I quickly picked up the milk to stop the mess from getting any bigger and took a second to survey the damage. There was no time to pull the fridge out to clean under it. And definitely no time to cry about it. I was already running behind.
I cleaned it up the best I could and went on with my day.
There's probably still some milk under the fridge, drying out, and hopefully not getting moldy. I guess I'll know if it starts to smell in my kitchen, right?
Life can be like that. It's messy and chaotic. You spill milk, or coffee, or any of a thousand other things. You find the nearest towel, napkin, or sweatshirt if that's all you have handy, and mop it up. And you do your best to move on.
The beauty of it is that this is what's supposed to happen. Life's not supposed to be perfect. There are sharp corners, ragged edges and lots of obstacles in our paths.
How boring would life be if it was all smooth sailing? How would we ever appreciate the good times if there were never any bad ones?
The next time you spill milk, stumble and fall, hit a rough patch, or just are having a crummy day, stop and think about what the universe is trying to teach you in that moment.
No matter what you do...don't cry over that spilled milk...just clean it up and move on, preferably with a smile on your face.
And be proud of yourself for being strong enough to do it.
PS: Happy Thanksgiving to my faithful blog readers! I'm grateful for all of you!
